The procedure is structured to work in multiple phases, each tailored to the client’s skin type, concerns, and desired outcomes. Below is a step-by-step guide detailing the HIFU procedure.

1. Consultation and Assessment

Before undergoing HIFU, a thorough consultation with a qualified practitioner is essential. During this stage:

  • Skin Analysis: The provider examines the skin’s elasticity, tone, and overall condition.
  • Discuss Goals and Expectations: The patient and provider discuss desired outcomes and expectations. The practitioner explains what results are achievable and advises on any necessary pre-procedure preparations.

Customized Treatment Plan: Based on the consultation, a treatment plan is formulated, specifying areas to be targeted, the intensity of the ultrasound energy, and the number of sessions required.

2. Preparation for Treatment

Before starting the procedure:

  • Cleanse the Skin: The skin is thoroughly cleansed to remove any makeup, oils, or impurities.
  • Numbing Cream Application: Some patients may request a numbing cream if they have concerns about discomfort, although HIFU generally involves minimal pain. The numbing cream is applied for about 20-30 minutes before treatment.

3. Marking and Gel Application

To ensure precise targeting of treatment areas:

  • Marking the Treatment Areas: The practitioner marks the specific areas on the skin to guide where the HIFU device will be applied.
  • Application of Ultrasound Gel: A cool ultrasound gel is applied to the skin. This gel helps with the smooth gliding of the device and enhances ultrasound wave conduction into the skin.

4. Treatment with Ultraformer III

The HIFU device targets multiple layers of the skin. Specific depths can be adjusted for the following:

  • Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System (SMAS) Layer: This deep foundational layer is targeted to lift and tighten the skin structurally.
  • Dermal and Subdermal Layers: These layers are targeted to stimulate collagen production, improving skin elasticity and smoothness.

We use the Ultraformer III machine, which is US FDA-approved for safety and effectiveness.

5. Post-Procedure Care

Post-procedure care is vital for optimal results:

  • Avoid touching, rubbing, or picking at your skin.
  • You can cleanse, moisturize, apply SPF, and even makeup as usual.
  • Refrain from using retinols, acids, or exfoliators for at least seven days.
